Level 1 Health and Safety Representative Courses for Community Services

The Australian Services Union in conjunction with SA Unions is offering 5 day training for Health and Safety Representatives

SA Unions is an accredited provider of Health and Safety Representative training under the OHS&W Act.

All courses at the Australian Services Union, 5 Rundle Street, Kent Town unless indicated otherwise.

Course Description

GENERAL LEVEL 1 HEALTH AND SAFETY REPRESENTATIVE & DEPUTY HSR'S COURSE (5 days split)
A five day course where participants will gain an understanding of the principles of the OHS&W Legislation; including the role of the Health and Safety Representative and the Health and Safety Committee.  The course will provide participants with a basic understanding of the principles and practice of hazard management and skills to consult and negotiate. 

 

Target Group

Elected Health and Safety Representatives and Deputy Health and Safety Representatives

 

Course Content

The course complies with SafeWork SA Guidelines on content and covers -

  • Unit 1 : SWSAHSR101A
    Introduction to occupational health, safety and welfare

  • Unit 2 : SWSAHSR102A
    Occupational health, safety and welfare legislation

  • Unit 3 : SWSAHSR103A
    Perform the functions and exercise the powers of a health and safety representative

  • Unit 4 : SWSAHSR104A
    Hazard management

  • Unit 5 : SWSAHSR105A
    Role of health and safety committees

  • Unit 6 : SWSAHSR106A
    Consultation and conflict resolution

  • Unit 7 : SWSAHSR107A
    Research, prepare and present a case on an occupational health, safety and welfare issue
